Supongo que si te vas a volver adicto a algo, los alimentos saludablemente orgánicos son mejores que muchas cosas. De acuerdo a un artículo en la revista Teen Vogue de este mes, los expertos están alertando contra un nuevo desorden alimenticio llamado ortorexia. Esta es una obsesión por comer solo alimentos "buenos" incluyendo alimentos crudos, alimentos completamente orgánicos e incluso una obsesión por la ingestión de carbonato.
Comprar alimentos orgánicos es una alternativa más saludable, ya que son productos cultivados sin el uso de pesticidas, fertilizantes químicos, antibióticos u hormonas; pero también es una opción más costosa.
Ir al supermercado se convierte entonces en un dilema entre comprar lo mejor y no destruir el presupuesto familiar. Por ello, te ofrecemos una lista de los alimentos por los que realmente vale la pena hacer un gasto extra y por los que no debemos preocuparnos tanto si adquirimos los convencionales.
Cómpralo orgánico, cueste lo que cueste
- Manzana, pera, cereza, uva, nectarina, melocotón, fresa, frambuesa, pimentón, céleri, papa y espinaca.
Razón: Estudios realizados por el Departamento de Agricultura de Estados Unidos, revelaron que estas 12 frutas y vegetales, incluso después de ser lavadas, siguen conteniendo un alto grado de sustancias tóxicas provenientes de los pesticidas usados para su cultivo.
Según la investigación, si comes regularmente algunas de estas frutas no orgánicas, te expones a 2 pesticidas al día.
- Carnes rojas, aves, huevos, quesos y leche.
Razón: Al ganado y a las aves no orgánicas se les suministran hormonas de crecimiento, antibióticos y son alimentados con productos hechos de animales que pueden transmitir la enfermedad de las vacas locas.
Por ello vale la pena comprar estos alimentos orgánicos aunque tiendan a valer el doble de los convencionales. No obstante, una opción más económica es adquirirlos en mercados o granjas locales.
- Alimentos de bebé
Razón: La comida de bebé generalmente está hecha de frutas o vegetales condensados, por lo que pueden acumular toxinas dañinas para el cuerpo en desarrollo del recién nacido.
Sólo si el precio no es un problema, elígelos orgánicos
- Aguacate, banana, kiwi, mango, papaya, piña, brócoli, coliflor, cebolla, espárrago y guisante.
Razón: Estas frutas y vegetales tienen su propia protección pues poseen cáscara o cobertura, haciéndolas menos vulnerables a la acumulación de pesticidas. Según investigaciones del Environmental Working Group (EWG), al estudiar este grupo de alimentos se les encontraron muy pocos residuos de pesticidas, así que si prefieres ahorrarte el dinero extra, puedes comprar estas especies no orgánicas sin mayor problema.
- Pasta, cereal, pan, aceite, y comidas empacadas como las frutas o vegetales enlatados.
Razón: aunque estos productos orgánicos tienen niveles menores de contaminantes, su valor para la salud tiende a disminuir debido a que la forma de procesarlos les elimina gran parte de sus nutrientes. Una forma de identificar las comidas orgánicas procesadas que tienen mayor nivel nutricional, es que en su etiqueta diga:100% orgánico, o USDA organic.
No te preocupes si no son orgánicos
- Comida del mar.
Razón: los pescados y frutos del mar, sean capturados en su hábitat natural o criados, no tienen una certificación estatal o federal establecida en Estados Unidos. Por ello, su identificación como orgánicos o no orgánicos depende de la consideración de los productores y no siempre toma en cuenta la cantidad de mercurio u otros contaminantes que pueden traer.

Realmente es indignante ver que uno de los hombres más ricos del mundo tiene una compañía tan poco eficiente como lo es Telmex, su servicio de internet Infinitum y de telefonía celular, Telcel. No digo que Carlos Slim sea el responsable directamente, más bien sus subordinados y no sé si esto vaya más abajo. Lo cierto es que Prodigy Infinitum a través de Telmex (Teléfonos de México) deja mucho que desear a millones de mexicanos.
Continuamente en México hay problemas con el Internet, en oficinas y en casa. Trabajo para una empresa que necesita mucho el uso del Internet y frecuentemente el servicio tiene interrupciones y por ende, pérdida de lo que estabas elaborando o enviando por e-mail.
Para mi, como para miles (particulares y empresas), es fundamental tenerlo bien, listo y funcional y por desgracia, eso no sucede y aunque Infinitum es el menos peor (no contando Cablevisión, Iusacell y otras), pues la mala situación persiste.
